RONALD SOIEFER Obituary

SOIEFER--Ronald M., 69, passed away peacefully in his sleep on November 2, 2023. Ron was born in Scarsdale, NY on December 30, 1953. He graduated from Edgemont High School in 1971 where he was named "Mr. Edgemont" as the number one male graduate academically. Ron attended college at Harvard University, where he majored in History and graduated magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa. He then earned his J.D. degree, cum laude, at Harvard Law School in 1978. Ron started his legal career as a corporate associate at the New York law firm, Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton and Garrison. Ron left Paul, Weiss to become General Counsel for Oxford Energy Company, a private electricity-generat- ing company in Santa Rosa, CA. Ron led the team that converted Oxford Energy into a publicly-traded company. Thereafter, Ron became Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary of Unilever United States, Inc, where over many years he finished his illustrious legal career, handling many corporate transactions, such as Unilever's acquisition of Ben and Jerry's. In appreciation for his efforts, the company created a personal ice cream flavor for Ron with his caricature on the ice cream carton. Ron retired from Unilever in 2011 for health reasons as he was diagnosed with Frontotemporal Disorder. Ron married Lucy Diamond in 2002, and they had twins, Alexander, and Charlotte. Ron was a devoted, caring and loving father who will be greatly missed. Ron loved to travel with family and traced his Jewish heritage including finding his grandmother's grave in what is now the Czech Republic. Ron always enjoyed sharing special occasions and holidays with family. Besides his children, Alexander and Charlotte, Ron is survived by his two brothers, Alan Soiefer (Hilary) and Lawrence Soiefer (Gail) and his three nephews, Mitch, Todd and Samuel. Ron was a wonderful brother, a fantastic uncle and a devoted father.

I am sorry to hear about Ron´s death. I worked with him as outside counsel when he had a matter for Unilever in Minneapolis. We got to know each other personally as he got stranded here during his father´s yarzeit, and I was able to take him to my synagogue for services. He was very grateful for my very minimal gesture cHe will be missed.

So sad, he was a great person, in the pic. Together with him about 40 years ago when he visited us in Romania before we made Aliya to Israel...

Ron and I grew up a few blocks away from each other and I have many memories of him from my childhood. Yes, we all knew he was extremely smart .... But what I remember is his kindness to others and his smile. May his memory be a blessing. My sincere condolences on your loss.

My condolences. I know Ron was a great person and leader. I did not have the privilege to work together at Unilever, but I did see firsthand the deep care and foresight he brought to the Ben & Jerry´s family from my time as CEO, many years later. I and many people are grateful for Ron´s vision and legacy.
