Marie Sullivan (née DeAngelo) passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday at the age of 90. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 51 years, Robert J. Sullivan.
Marie was born in Pardeesville to Carmela and Anthony DeAngelo. When she was a young child, her family moved to Queens, N.Y. She graduated from Newtown High School and the worked in Manhattan as a secretary for several years prior to her marriage. In 1972, she returned to Hazleton to reside with her family.
Marie was an active member of Most Precious Blood Church where she served as an Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist, faithful member of the May and October Rosary Group, and volunteered her time in the rectory office. Marie enjoyed bowling, reading, word puzzles and playing cards. She loved baseball and was a faithful New York Mets fan.
Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents and husband, was he brothers, Richard and Dominic DeAngelo.
Marie is survived by her children, Marie Sullivan and Michael Raffio, Dayton, Ohio; James and Mary Ellen Sullivan, Myrtle Beach S.C.; Christine and Michael Yatsko, Drums; and Laura and Barry Malloy, Hazleton; grandchildren, Gregory Raffio and Alicia Di Marco, Barry Malloy, Timothy and Elizabeth Raffio, Aidan Malloy, Alec Malloy, and Michael and Marleen Elko; as well as great-grandchildren, Delilah Yatsko, Leonardo Raffio and Viviana Raffio.
Her funeral Mass is at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Most Precious Blood Church, Hazleton.
COVID-19 precautions will be in effect.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Meals on Wheels, an organization Marie supported.
Fierro Funeral Service Inc. is in charge of arrangements.

I am very sorry for your loss. I used to see Marie at church and the rosary in May and October. It’s hard to accept loss, but she will always be in your heart. Again I am sorry for your loss.

My deepest sympathy to all of Marie's family.I was one of her home care Rn's,I was there to care for her but she always made my day brighter.Heaven has received an angel.
