Beatrice Niver Obituary

Beatrice A. Beam Vargeson Age 78, of N. Hoffman Rd., Elmira, went to her eternal home to be with the Lord on Feb. 3, 2004 after a 3 year battle with lung cancer. She was rewarded and escorted into heaven by her grandson, mother, son, and husband. Bea was predeceased by her husband, Philip Niver in 1995; her son, Daniel Beam in 1979; and grandson, Tracy Vargeson in 1968. She was a loving, kind and caring mother to her children, Dwayne (Victoria) Vargeson of Elmira Heights, NY, Gerald Jerry (Carol) Vargeson of Webster, MA, Sylvia (Winfred) Costine of Lakeland, FL, William (Diane) Beam of Elmira Heights, NY, LuAnn Beam Robinson of Elmira, NY, Nancy Beam-Woodhouse of Dryden, NY; 19 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren and several other family members; and close and caring friends including, Joseph Cianfoni of Sayre, PA. Bea was also predeceased by her brothers, Wilbur and Warren Calkins; son-in-law, Dr. Charles Woodhouse in 2002. Born in Jasper, NY, on April 24, 1925 the daughter of the late Raymond and Tressa (Hallock) Calkins Brownell. Bea was a devoted wife, mother and friend to many. She was the manager for AAA in Elmira Heights and Elmira for over 23 years until her retirement in 1993. Prior to her employment there she also worked at Lyman Gridley and Moore Business Forms in Elmira. Family and friends are invited to call at the Barber Funeral Home, 413 So. Main St., Horseheads, on Friday, Feb. 6, 2004, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Her funeral service will take place in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 1100 W. Church St., Elmira, NY, 14905, on Sat., Feb. 7, 2004, at 9:30 a.m. with Deacon George Welch officiating. Interment will follow in Woodlawn National Cemetery Elmira. Her contagious smile and sweet spirit will live on in all our lives. And her children shall rise up and call her blessed.
