Perry Rieppel

Perry J. Age 87 of Worthington, OH, died Friday, August 24, 2001 at Riverside Methodist Hospital. A retired metallurgical engineer, he received his B.S. from Mansfield University, Mansfield, PA and completed his graduate work at Cornell University and the University of Buffalo. He was a registered Professional Engineer in Ohio and a teacher from 1937-1941. He was then employed by Battelle Memorial Institute from 1943-1977 as Engineer and Manager of Metals Research. He was a life time member, executive director and engineering fellow of the American Welding Society, a life member of the American Society of Metals; Author and Co-author of many U.S. Patents and Engineering Publications. Received major awards for engineering and management and was a consulting engineer and management advisor to industry and government. Preceded in death by his parents, John and Ethel Rieppel and his sister, Edna Rieppel Locke. Survived by his wife, Ruth; children, Karl (Nancy) Rieppel, Kurt (Janet Varner) Rieppel, Bronwynn (David) Hopton; grandchildren, John (Deidre) Rieppel, James and Kate Rieppel, Myvonwynn, Bronwynn and Perrigene Hopton; sisters, Anna Rieppel, Edith (Joseph) West and Arlene Strailey; brothers, Paul (Lena) Rieppel and James (Betty) Rieppel; sisters-in-law, Catherine Millichap and Margaret Howard; nieces and nephews. A local Memorial Service will be held for family and friends at the First Presbyterian Church of East Wellsboro Street, Mansfield, PA on September 15, 2001 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Thomas Thomas officiating. Family requests in lieu of flowers, that memorial contributions be made to the First Congregational Church, 444 East Broad St., Columbus, OH 432215-3885.
