I was saddened to hear of Bill's passing. We knew each other many years ago in Raleigh and at UNC-Chapel Hill. It's been over 35 years since our paths crossed, but in my memory he is always smiling, full of mischief and forever young. My condolences to his family during what must be a very difficult time.

My deepest sympathy to you all. I recently came back to LabCorp and regret that I will not get to work with him. I will always remember Bill as one-of-a-kind.

Connie, Will and Bailey – we were shocked and saddened beyond words when we heard the news. We were lucky enough to have had a few years with Bill when Brennan was on his soccer team and he made a lasting impact. He was everything you could want in a coach – he mentored as much as coached – and the boys loved playing for him. Bill taught the boys to handle victory with humility and defeat with grace. He made practices, games and tournaments fun regardless of outcome and we have fond memories of the outside-of-soccer get togethers he orchestrated for the boys and parents. Knowing how we feel, we can only begin to fathom the extent of your heartbreak and loss; we are thinking of you and your family, and you are in our prayers.

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Merriman and Catherine,
My name is Nancy. My heart breaks for the loss of your son and brother, Bill. My mother is the former Nancy Ball and my father was John "Jack" O.D. Williams of Raleigh. When I was little, you all were great friends and our families played together often. Bill was my older brother Jack's age so they knew each other better. When I think of those long ago days, I feel laughter and joy. Catherine and I spent our younger years together and then met up again at the Delta house in Chapel Hill. I have always remembered your family with great fondness. I pray that God may somehow, someway provide you comfort and peace as he welcomes Bill with open arms.
With Love,
Little Nancy
