Alan Leipnitz Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 3, 2013.
Leipnitz, Alan W. age 73, of Prior Lake, died Dec. 29, 2012 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, MN from complications following heart surgery. He is survived by his spouse of 53 years, Judith Meltz Leipnitz; sons, Mark (Shanna) Leipnitz, Andrew (Blanca) Leipnitz and Matthew (Darcy) Leipnitz; grandchildren, Maxwell, Laura, John, Heather, Parker, Sarah and Noah Leipnitz; sister, Alyce (Robert) Sedore; brother, Aleron (Carol) Leipnitz; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Alan graduated from the University of MN in 1962 with a degree in chemistry and worked for Echo Lab as Director of International Research and Development. For the last 21 years, he has been the owner of South Cedar Greenhouses in Farmington, MN. Alan met his wife Judy in kindergarten in Eau Claire, WI. Two years after graduating together from Eau Claire High School, they were married in 1959. They went on to raise three sons, embrace three daughters- in-law and enthusiastically welcome seven grandchildren. Al was an avid Twins fan. He loved reading, traveling, hunting, fishing, playing cards, solving Sudoku, following the grandchildren's activities, going to his deer cabin, watching the lake and "counting the waves." Please join us in a celebration of Al's life. The family will receive guests for a time of visitation on Saturday, Jan. 5 from 2-5 PM at Henry W. Anderson Mortuary in Apple Valley. A memorial service will be at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Burnsville on Sunday, Jan. 6 at 2 PM, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Lunch will follow the service. Memorials preferred to Prince of Peace Lutheran Church or to donor's choice. Henry W. Anderson 952-432-2331 obit.HenryWAnderson.com

Mark, Shanna and family-
So sorry to have heard of your loss. Thomas knew, and then apparently my husband knew, but no one told me until yesterday. I always smiled when I drove by the sign in your driveway teeling us to slow down, Al's grandkids were at play. Please accept our deepest sympathies!
