I still miss not being able to call you and hear your voice and thoughtful/honest/funny response to whatever I wanted to talk to about. You are still loved by me and many others who were fortunate enough to have been friends with you.
August 12, 2010
Shelly how I miss you!!! Your sweet smile, your laugh, the way we used to make homemade velveeta mac & cheese together, living in the house in Plymouth with the "chandelier", Biker Bob in the basement and you and me and Nancy in the rooms upstairs - catching some rays in the back yard. And meeting Mark for the first time. Slave Raider and all 80's concerts!! :) You always were the one I could talk to and lean on who would never judge and just be there for the ride... I miss you and love you so much my sweet friend!!

Dear
Mark, Roger, Kay, Dory, Brenda,
I am so very sad to hear about Shelly.
I saw her two Christmases ago after mass at St. Rose. She gave me a big
hug and told me about Chanhassen and her dear Mark. Shelly was a precious
friend to me in childhood. So many of my memories are connected to her.
We pretended we were horses: Black Beauty and White Beauty! We loved imagining
all kinds of things. We played Lite Brite, ate cornnuts in that little cubby
hole upstairs, and pet Tipsy. So many wonderful memories! When my little
brother died when we were in elementary school, Shelly was a supportive friend.
I know your hearts must be so heavy with pain. You have suffered such a
great loss. Shelly should have been with you much, much longer. But, of
course, her spirit lives on. She is with God and knows the joys of heaven.
I am so grateful that Shelly was in my life. You have my deepest sympathy.

Dear Mark and MacGillivray Family-
We are shocked and deeply saddened by the loss of Shelly. This tragic event has created an ache in our hearts and a void in our lives. Shelly has left a lasting impression with so many who knew her and loved her. We will always remember how she would just show up and illuminate the room. Her smile, warmth and positive attitude will be greatly missed. We will fondly recall her many funny stories and love for life. The world has lost a beautiful free spirit but gained an angel to watch over us all. May you find comfort in cherished memories and peace in knowing that Shelly will live on forever in the hearts of those whose lives she so deeply touched. You are in our thoughts and prayers.

Her smile will never fade, even as the years go by. She was more genuine than most, and I will miss seeing her bright and glowing face. Fishing, camping, etc. I will keep these moments close to me, until we meet again. Mark, Deb, & Families...dig deep down and find the strength in knowing that she is free to ride anywhere now, no holds barred.

Our hearts and prayers go out to Mark, Brenda and the MacGillivray and Van Guilder families and friends.
We will forever miss Shelly’s heartfelt laughter, her genuine love for life and those around her, her wit, her smile and her friendship. Shelly was truly a genuine person who absolutely glowed from the inside out. She had a light that burned so brightly that it drew everyone to her, as demonstrated by the massive number of people who attended her memorial service last Sunday. It was devastating and heartbreaking but yet somehow amazing and comforting all at once to see how many lives she has touched and how many people care about her and were all brought together through her.
Shelly, you will be forever in our hearts and we love you.

I am also a fellow motorcycle rider and I live in Excelsior. I was extremely moved and saddened when hearing of Shelly's accident, having driven through those crossroads hundreds of times. I think of her each and everytime I drive through. I did not know her personally, but by the sound of the Guest Book...she was an amazing woman with an amazing partner in life. Be thankful...that you found each other and spent some time together on this earth. What a blessing in itself. May you rest in peace, Shelly.

I remember coming out to your house a couple of times when we would come to visit Aunt Helen and Uncle Mervin. Shelly was just a wee thing, and oh so cute. I haven't seen Shelly for about 40 years, but I remember like it was yesterday-jumping on the beds, running down stairs, running in the yard, screaming and holloring, just to bug the parents. Eathing Aunt Helens Pickles-yummy, and Rogers catch in deer meat- all of us kids watching uncle mervin snore, wondering what in the world was down his throat making all that noise. ha
Bill and I are Bike riders too, and bikers have a common code, be safe and wave hello everytime you pass another biker. You ride here in Texas and that is what you see.
we hurt for you and the family, know our prayers, and love are with you and the family. Shelly will be dearly missed, she will be looking down from biker heaven on all bikers doing her best to help keep them safe. her nature and her way. We love you, take care of each other, and we will all remember just how precious life is. Love Kim and Bill

Dear Kay, Roger, Dory, Brenda & Mark: No one can take away the pain of loosing our friend Shelly. Hopefully you can take comfort in knowing that she is at peace with God and one day you'll all be together again. My heart aches with the thought of not seeing her smile and comforting hugs each time I saw her.
Listen for angels hovering near, whispering words you are longing to hear, love is not over, life is not gone, now and forever, her spirit lives on.

You can no longer see me
Yet I watch you from above
I know you’re grieving deeply
Because your heart is filled with love
I loved you so much
And I know you loved me too
But please don’t cry for long
Because I will always be with you
Just remember the good times
We had along the way
And I’ll see you in heaven
Because on earth no one can stay

Brenda ~
I just got the tragic news of the loss of Shelly.
I kept in touch with Shelly over the years, even though it was just occasional, and we chatted about our court reporting careers. It was always nice to hear from her and we always found something to laugh about. She had the best sense of humor. She was a kind, generous spirit and will be missed by so many.
I was in your situation three years ago for my sister Amy who we tragically lost, and six years ago for my Aunt Deb from Proctor who we lost in a motorcycle accident at the age of 44. My heart feels your pain and sorrow.
You and your family are all in my thoughts.

We wish to share with the family and loved ones of Shelly, how she added to the memories of our family. In November 1986, Shelly was the Maid of Honor at the wedding of our son Michael and his wife Ann (Dvergsten) Rust. Her great smile and sense of humor added joy to our family’s celebration that special day. Hopefully the positive memories of the people she met in life will be of some comfort to those who loved her so much. God Bless.

Please know that my prayers and thoughts are with Shelli's family and loved ones at this terrible loss. I worked with Shelli at the Diane Wright court reporting agency, and I know that her leaving so suddenly and tragically touches all those who worked with her.

Damn. I will forever regret not keeping in better contact. We had a special relationship that I will always cherish. Our few and far between conversations over the past couple of years always left me with a smile on my face. You will always be in my thoughts and prayers.

Mark. Roger, Kay, Dory & Family, Brenda,
I am so sorry for the loss we will all have to face in losing Shelly, she was a great daughter, sister and friend. The emptiness will never be filled. I know Shelly was looking forward to the Tina Turner concert with you Kay, and we had just talked about the good fishing times she had with Roger, she cherished these memories. Memories can not be taken from us. Dory and Brenda- she thought you guys were the greatest, and she was proud to be an aunt. Mark, the love you and Shelly had together will never die, and I know she loved your family. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this difficult time. I will forever miss you Shelly, my oldest and dearest friend. “Peanuts: Shell them and Sher them”

So very sorry to read about Shelly. Shelly was one of my students at Rasmussen and we continued to talk and share life stories with each other after she graduated. She has always held a special place in my heart. I remember many wonderful comments about Mark. She will be missed. I will not be able to attend the memorial but will be there in spirit.
