PITTS, Stephen Alan
Stephen Alan Pitts, Attorney at Law, died Monday, January 9, 2017, after battling cancer. Steve was born in Pasadena, TX, April 24, 1945, raised in Galveston, TX, spoke fluent Spanish, and Proud grandpa of Ryder Brown. Steve was Father to three daughters, Amy, Amanda & Danielle and was preceded in death by his Mother Johnnie Bess Pitts, and Father, Claude Pitts, and wife Kim whom he married in 1980. Steve is survived by his Sister, Judith Driscoll.

In the Sixties, Steve lived with The Monkeys in California. As a guitarist and singer songwriter, he co-wrote some songs for them with Davy Jones. Steve was also an avid swimmer and worked for a while at a Puerto Rican Resort performing in a swimming show. Steve graduated from UT's Law School in 1973 and immediately passed the Bar exam. Steve practiced a short while in Galveston before relocating to Austin and practicing until his death. Steve loved crossword puzzles, music, UT anything and Cowboy Football, war movies, reading and his surviving daughters and dog Beanie.

Steve's friends would describe him as the ultimate Contrarian. If you believed this, he believed that. If you were a Republican, he was a Democrat. Steve enjoyed being difficult.
A Celebration of Life will be held this Saturday, January 28th, at 7:00 p.m. at Marshalls Tavern, 13125 Pond Springs Road (Formerly Nolan's), in downtown Jollyville, TX 78729. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the charity of your choice in his honor, or send condolences to the family at 8907 B Shick Road Austin, TX 78729.

Steve was my neighbor as I was growing up in Pasadena. Although he was ten years older than me, he was always very friendly and kind to me and I very much looked up to him. I remember when his mother called our house and was told to come over and she would play a couple of his songs from the latest Monkees album. Was proud to do so.

We are so devasted to just find out that our friend Steve Pitts passed away months ago. Gosh this hurts our heart. Steve was a good man.

Steve Pitts was a wonderful, devoted Father and family man. I knew him while babysitting for his three beauties briefly. RIP Steve. The battle is over.

I know we never really agreed on much and I was an absolute terror growing up but I do love ya even though I never said it much, and I am grateful that you were a part of my life, even though I wasnt very good at showing it. And know matter how bad i was or how much trouble i seemed to get myself into, you were one of the only people who always believed I could do better. Thank you for that. Anywayi know Ive never been to good at expressing my emotions so Im gonna leave it at this~ ~You were the only father I had in my life and Im thankful for that, and though you will be missed now that your gone, it does ease the hurt a little knowing that mom isnt alone anymore. So until we meet again you will be missed~~give mom a hug and a kiss for me and tell her I miss her like crazy every single day~~~~Love ya, Amy
