James MOBLEY Obituary

MOBLEY, James Allen "Jimmy" James Allen "Jimmy" Mobley of Kilgore, 65, died peacefully Tuesday March 6. He was born in October 9, 1952 in Kilgore, Texas to Ann and John Mobley. He attended Kilgore elementary schools and Kilgore Junior High until his family moved to Austin in 1966, where he attended O. Henry Junior High and McCallum High, graduating in 1969. He earned a BBA from Texas A&M University in 1974. Over the course of his career, Jimmy managed several business units for the family business and worked with his independent investments. He also served on the boards of several local businesses. He was a lifelong Presbyterian and served as both a deacon and elder in the First Presbyterian Church of Longview, while supporting numerous community causes. He was a good, devoted Aggie, and raised two of them as well. Quietly, he often gave important help to his less fortunate friends. He held thoughtful political opinions you could respect. At his best, Jimmy was a joy: a wicked storyteller with a fine appreciation for the comical and a wry observer of the times he lived in. He was heck of a lot of fun to fish with. Survivors include daughters Melissa Mobley of Dallas, Allison Mobley Clark and her husband Alan of Houston, grandchildren Alice Clark and Lillian Clark, parents John and Ann Mobley of Austin, brother Steven Mark Mobley and his wife Carolyn of Austin, uncle and aunt Tom and Betty Mobley of Kilgore, aunt Ann Mobley Harkins of Houston and her husband Sonny, aunt Nancy Mobley of Longview, cousin Joann Mobley Grooms and her husband Randy of Tyler, cousin Stephen Lewis Mobley and his wife Kim of Coppelle, former wife and mother of Melissa and Allison, Linda Lobingier Mobley of Fort Worth, niece Lisa Mobley Miller and her husband Nicholas, and many other family members. Lifelong friend and Jimmy's wife from 2013 until 2017, Jan Wylie Mobley of Kilgore, gave loving care and support for Jimmy and our whole family during his final days. It was characteristic of what she has always been: an honorary member of our family forever. Jim Griffin of Kilgore, like a brother, stayed close to him in his last hours. Finally, we give special thanks for his beloved cousin Susie Patterson of San Antonio and her husband Gary, whose tireless devotion to Jimmy's well being during his final days was inspirational. Services will be 2:00 pm Friday, March 9, 2018 at the First Presbyterian Church in Kilgore, with Reverend Harry Misener officiating. Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Kilgore or a charity of your choice.

Sorry this is late, but I just found out that Jimmy passed on. I thought a lot of him and will miss him, even though I did not see him very often. He was a good man.

Mr. and Mrs. Mobley, Steve, Lisa and the rest of the Mobley Family:

You will never know how devastated I am at the loss of your beloved Jim, and you have my most sincere condolences in your time of grief. Jimmy was one of a kind with a wicked sense of humor, a soft spot for the down-trodden, and I respected him for the kind of man he became.

Please know that he will be loved in my heart forever.

May God grant you all peace and comfort.
