I still think of Dr. DeWolfe every time I go by Southwest Vision. The thought of him passing right after he retired still makes me sad.

I just learned about Kevin´s passing through a mutual patient. I had my first job as an optometrist technician at his office and I was quite influenced by him to pursue the field of Optometry. He was a kind man and always smiling. You will be missed.

I just learned about Dr. DeWolfe's passing while I was at my annual appointment today. I have been a patient of his for about 25 years and was sad but very happy for he and his family when he was retiring. But to hear this sad and tragic news today just breaks my heart. My heartfelt condolences to his family.

I just heard about Dr. DeWolfe´s passing today, when I asked about him at my appointment at Southwest Vision. I am shocked and deeply saddened by the terrible news. I saw Dr. DeWolfe for over over 25 years and he was always a delight to visit with. My heartfelt condolences to his family.

I'm devastated. Just heart broken. Kevin is gone too soon, he was a delightful man and a blessing to know. The only consolation is knowing he is with the Lord, reunited with his sweet brother Rick, where we will all see them again in God's kingdom. My prayers are with Cindy, Sam, Kate, Zach, Barb and Jill, and Clinton, as well as all who loved Kevin and feel his loss.

I just found out about this today, when I had an appointment at Southwest Vision. I am so sad. Dr. DeWolfe is the only health professional I have ever cared this much about, and certainly the only one I saw for three decades! He really cared about his patients. I became a patient when he had his small office at Barton Creek Mall, and stayed his patient until he retired. I wish he had had more years to enjoy his retirement. Sincere condolences to his family.

Just heard of Dr. DeWolfe’s passing today and I am so sad and sorry.
I became Dr DeWolfe’s patient when his office was in Barton Creek Mall in the 70’s. His wife was his receptionist. I remember how excited he was when his children were born! He was my doctor until he retired. When I moved to Dallas, I drove to Austin every year for my exam. My last appointment with him was just days before he retired. He was eager to spend time with his Dad, his wife and his children. Truly, his life was cut short. My sincerest condolences.

Dr. DeWolfe was special! My youngest daughter, Everly, was having a lot of health issues her senior year. One of the issues was an eye infection that just would not go away. We just thought it was her normal sinus infection that turned into an eye infection. Dr. DeWolfe tried the normal antibiotic eye drops and then steroid eye drops. Nothing was working and the infection was getting worse. Dr. DeWolfe decided to do more testing. He discovered that Everly was losing depth of field vision in her left eye. I will never forget when he came out to tell me that there was most likely some neurological issue like possible MS, Lupus or other issues causing this loss of vision. Together we helped Everly that day as we told her in his office. She bawled her eyes out...I was choking back tears and Dr. DeWolfe just held both of us. That started our journey on trying to figure out what was going on. Long story short...and many doctors and a specialist later - we discovered Everly was suffering from a major gluten allergy -- she was extremely sensitive to gluten which was making her entire immune system shut down which was also by that point causing her to deal with optic Neurotis and occipital neuralgia. She was literally going blind in her left eye at that point. Once we discovered the gluten issue, she went off all gluten and her entire body went back to normal within about 2 months, including her eyesight! If not for Dr. DeWolfe going further in his investigation and calling this concern out to our attention, Everly or our family would not have discovered this issues for awhile. Dr. DeWolfe also said that it made him flag it for people as he had never realized the impact that gluten can also have on people's eyesight! I will forever be grateful for him and I always let him know that whenever I had my appointments with him. I was sad to see him retire!
I am even more sad and so very sorry to learn of his passing! I want his family to know how grateful we are/were of him. Our hearts break for his family! Please know how much we thought of Dr. DeWolfe. He was something special!! We will keep all of his family in our thoughts and prayers!

Kevin was my eye doctor for many years – from the time I first started having to sneak on my reading glasses (which was too many years ago to recall) until he retired. Kevin was not just my “eye doctor”. Regretfully, while I never spent time with Kevin outside of my office visits, I truly considered him a friend. He genuinely cared for me, not only as a patient, but as a person, and I always enjoyed my visits to his office. My wife, Myrna, feels the same as she, too, was a patient and a friend. Our prayers are with Kevin’s family and friends, all of whom we know are missing him immensely. May God immerse you all in His grace and may He comfort you and bless your hearts with wonderful memories of Kevin.

Kevin had a heart of gold. We lived across the street from each other for many years. We became good friends after high school and had many memories together. Kevin's wife Cindy is an angel. I could write a book about our times together. I pray for his family and for all who knew and loved Kevin to remember the good times you shared. Remember, we will see him again...I'm looking forward to it when the time comes. I love you Kevin and will pray for your family as they overcome the loss of there bedrock in thier life. Gods grace and peace to you my friend and I pray for your wife and children with the promise that they will be reunited with you in Heaven.
Love you eternally...Chris Leiss
