David Kominek Obituary
June 18, 1946 - November 13, 2012
STATESVILLE, NC - David Leroy Kominek, 66, of Statesville, NC, passed away on Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at the VA Medical Center in Salisbury, NC.
He was born on June 18, 1946 in Seward, Nebraska, to the late Bohumil and Florence Burda Kominek. He was a US Air Force veteran serving in the Vietnam War. Mr. Kominek was a civil servant for over 25 years, serving as a detective with Marion County Sherriff's Department and retired Sergeant from Keizer Police Department in Oregon. He was an avid golfer, fisherman, and hunter. He was a member of the Lakewood Golf Men's Group, Keizer Elk Lodge #2472, and the VFW in Statesville. Mr. Kominek was regarded as a mentor, coach, and hero to many. He never met a stranger.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Dennis Kominek.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Gail Stanford Kominek; sons, Eric Kominek and wife, Anacka , Chad Kominek; brother, Dan Kominek and friend, Mike Love; sister-in-law, June Kominek; and grandchildren, Conner and Chase Kominek, Taylor and Makenna Kominek.
A Memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 8 at the Keizer Elks Lodge #2472, Keizer, Oregon. There will be a celebration of his life immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Department of Fish and Wildlife, 3406 Cherry Ave NE, Salem, Oregon 97301.

I'm a complete stranger, but I wanted to Thank Mr. Kominek for his service to his country and to law enforcement. I watched a movie recently, leading me to look him up. Mr. Kominek was a Hero all-around. God Bless
