Joey was a great friend and mentor to me, Mikey, Gary, & T.... the Griffin boys circa 1980....he brought a wonderful uniqueness to the group with his vibes and double neck SG.....and of course his warm and forgiving soul....We were blessed to have worked with him getting know the all little quirks that made him Joey....including his many rants into classic show tune melodies that were a staple in his guitar solos....."I love you Baby and if it's quite alright, etc etc." His sound is forever etched in the wonderful memories of our musical past!!

Indeed-he was a great guitarist-and quite a dynamic one at that. We were not extremely close but he inspired me to push the boundaries musically. Thank you Joey, JM

As an East side drummer, I was more a fan, and never a close personal friend of Joey Marshall, but, over the years I couldn't help but see and hear his musical influence everywhere on the Saint Louis scene.
1) His band The Truth used to play with the Allman Brothers Band.
2) I used to own a Vox Organ that was stenciled "The Truth, Chess Records, Chicago, Illinois" and Winthrop gigged with in at the 'Magic Mushroom'
3) 'Jake Jones' was a reat original band and an inspiration for cover bands to write and record original music.
4) Joey occasionally used to play a Golden Musser Vibraphone, I always wondered if it was the same instrument used by Jim Bolan (of Cookie and the Captain) with Herb Drury and Jerry Cherry at the Chase Park Plaza ... Joey sounded great on vibes.
5) And once when he was in 'Cartoon', with John Wasson and Larry 'V', they let me sit-in on 'Crossroads' and Joey qued me for the little drum fill, it was a nice musical moment for me.
So thank you, Joey, for the musical memories.

Joey was a lifetime idol of mine, from the first time I saw The Acid Sette when I was 14! I followed his career through The Truth, Jake Jones and especially Full Moon Consort! He was such a musical God to me that I was forever nervous even conversing with him, although his friendly smile and demeanor could always put me at ease! I am proud and happy to be able to have called him a friend and will never forget this musical giant and dear human being!

Joey was a good friend. He always spoke kindly of others and was willing to help anyone in a moments notice. Many have enjoyed his music and learned from his special talents as a musician. I had the privilege of knowing Joey like a brother when I lived with he and his family. Joey was a kind and gentle soul and a better man than many could ever strive to be. He will be greatly missed.

I played in the same circuit of teen clubs that Joey did, and I had heard of him even before I began playing Castaways. He was always such a good friend to run into whenever I did over later years, and I'll never forget what he taught me on guitar in the late 60's and early 70's. Joey could spin music and add his own beautiful magic to it every time. I send my prayers for God's blessings to all his family and friends. It is so very difficult to say goodbye to such a beautiful person as Joey.

Was a friend of Joey during the early 70's band scene. Always enjoyed seeing Joey play on my rare nights off from working the same clubs. He was always willing to talk shop and guitars on his breaks. Great guy, he will be missed.

Joey shared his laughter and his smiles with everyone, and help others feel a sense of their own worth. He was truly a blessing and will be missed immensely. May the memories you shared help you through the days ahead. My deepest sympathy.

He was always the elusive, but very talented musician that I used to see perform at the Castaways. He surely will be missed by all.

God Bless Joey and his family. I played with Joey in the early 80s and still remember a lot of our conversations and the sage wisdom he offered, as I was barely 21 at the time. We all were in awe of Joey and Full Moon Consort, and to get to actually work with him was a real blessing. Joe was always quick with a joke or words of encouragement and I never saw him in a bad mood.
God speed, Joey, and we'll never forget you !

Joe always brought a smile to my face when seeing his "power" walk around the block. The neighbors knew he was feeling well and walking faster than Donna. Occasionally, Joe would stand on the front porch to watch the deer across the street. This brought great joy and a big smile to his face. I have fond memories of Joe.
