A dear friend, a lot of wonderful memories. I still think about you my friend. Odd that we both ended in the same governmental world of service to others. You were a good man.

Neil told me many years ago that you can get a lot done in government service if you are willing not to take credit for it. He lived this wisdom, and we are pooer for his death. My condolences to Neil's brother and sister and all of his friends.

I was saddened to hear of passing of Neil, whom I have known since he became Executive Director at the Housing Authority of St. Louis County. As Director of the Offices of Public Housing in St. Louis and Kansas City, Neil was good to work with and when we called upon him, he was there to help in any way he could and give advice and guidance to address serious issues affecting the public housing and housing choice voucher programs. I appreciated his candor and wisdom.

I extend my sincerest sympathy to Neil's family and friends as well as the Board of Commissioners and staff at the Housing Authority, whom I know will miss him greatly. It is with deep regret that I am unable to attend his services. God Bless You.

I first met Neil in 1997 and worked with him and his staff during my 6 years at the MHDC, the state's housing finance agency. His thoughtful approach to addressing the needs of the County's lower income residents was impressive. His compassion for these residents shone through his passion for the details of the programs they created and the developments he and his staff worked on. Independently and in partnership with private developers, they created successful rental communities and provided homeownership opportunities for people who would not otherwise have had those opportunities. He will be missed.
