Well, we sure do miss you around here, Hap. Especially during these days of pandemic isolation. Your name comes up often and you are dearly missed. We all feel like you should still be with us. Since there isn't much else to do these days, the cleaning of closets is a popular pastime and I keep finding wonderful memories of you and Pop tucked in the back corners, carefully protected in a folder or ziplock. Thank you for being so good at many things, including preserving some wonderful memories for us all. Miss ya a bunch.

To Happy's Family,
I knew Happy when I lived in Whitmoor about twelve years ago and loved going to your parents home they were so much fun. She was also in my Bunko group I meet her through another good friend, Karen Schulte. She was always so friendly and she enjoyed life. We want to send my sympathy to your family and i will keep you all in my prayers. I know your parents are together in heaven. Diane & Gary Weihs

To the entire family. I am so sorry, I just got word about Happi. I've not really known life without Happi being in it. I guess is was somewhere around 1965. She was always that comfort that I needed. We could go for months without being around one another but whenever we did get back together that hug and energy that we had always made everything in the world so perfect. Just to have that one special person that knows you your entire life, we never needed any words because their was always that bond. My love for Happi is so deep and she will forever be in my heart. She loved each of you so very much and when she changed from Dell to Happi it so fit her. God had loaned us all a wonderful gift.

To all the Friends and Family who have left heartfelt words and messages rich in love and kindness …. I (we) thank you.
The following is a letter my Mom wrote during one of her retreats at the ‘White House’. If you’re not familiar with these retreats, it’s a beautiful place where one can reflect on their life in God. It’s conducive for thought and prayer, preparing ideas and plans for the future, or simply writing down your thoughts about your life. In this case my Mom wrote down how I (we) should live our life and how she hoped she touched each of us.
As our Family was gathering pictures and other items for her Memorial Services, Sylvan and Cathy stumbled upon this note (May 20, 2011) almost 9 years to the day.
After seeing this for the first time we realized it was meant for all to see and learn from:

“Nate”
Here once again, I have set a few days aside to concentrate on the spiritual side of my existence.
Solitude is a good thing, and this facilitates communication with God.
I hope and pray most days that I know and feel God’s Presence.
Some day when my body is laid to rest and there is not a physical part alive, I pray my spirit will still survive.
I hope you will still feel the enormous amount of love I hold for you.
You are very courageous, kind, and gentle and like Joseph work so very well with your hands, you have a keen mind and work harder than most.
My goal in life is that when I die, just one person could say their world was a better place just because I was a part of it.
I hope thoughts of me tickle your funny bone and you feel warm and toasty.
I hope people have felt my love by a kind note or a tender word.
I hope memories’ of me will conjure up a smile on your face and rekindle the joy of life, of living.
Capture every moment, live in the present, not the past or the future, life is God, his gift to us,
It’s so simple but yet a mystery. ?

We will greatly miss this light in our lives. Our dear gal was taken without warning early Tuesday morning as she apparently died in her sleep. No signs of illness or struggle. At 65 years of age, we had looked forward to us all growing old(er) together. A generous, accepting soul whose heart truly seemed to be made of gold. God bless you, our dear Happi, as you rest with Him and your beloved John in heaven. So many thanks for being a strong, wonderful part of our lives.
