Patricia Tate Obituary

Patricia M. Tate, 80, passed away on Wednesday, January 9, 2013. A memorial service will be held at Robison Funeral Home in Sulphur on Sunday, January 13, 2013, with visitation from noon until the service, which is 3 p.m. Mrs. Tate will then be transported to Crier Funeral Home in Obion, Tennessee, to be laid to rest in Rosehill Cemetery beside her beloved husband Billy Jack.
She was a 1950 graduate of Sulphur High School, and then graduated from Elliot Business Colleges in Beaumont, Texas. She was working for Cecil Bergstedt Agency in Sulphur when she married Billy Jack Tate in 1953. After faithfully following Bill wherever the U.S. Air Force required, she and her family settled down in Bill's hometown of Obion, Tennessee. She was an active member of the Obion Church of Christ and of Glass, the Obion Community Club that made infant items for needy families. She owned and managed a successful catering business and won many prizes for her original recipes. Her greatest passion was art. Although she primarily drew for pleasure, she did sell some of her creations.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Jack Tate; her parents, Rene Paul and Jeanne Borel Burke; her brother, Russell Paul Burke; and her sister, Linda Ruth Gary.
Her survivors include her son, Kenneth Tate of Obion, Tennessee; her sisters, Barbara Welsh of Sulphur, Renee Frye of Sulphur, Jeannette Roberts of Houston, TX, and Frances Ferrell of Dallas, TX; and her brother, Charles Burke of Sulphur.
