John Gimma Obituary

JOHN PAUL GIMMA

John was born in Brooklyn, NY on February 3, 1929, and passed away on March 27, 2010 in Summerfield, FL.

John was in the automotive business and owned several successful dealerships in Louisiana and Mississippi.

John was in the military service, serving proudly as a United States Marine.

He was an avid sportsman, and strove to excel in every sport he entered. He enjoyed boating, fishing, hunting, and had a passion for golf that was beyond compare. John was a four year letterman on the tennis team at his alma mater, the University of Georgia.

John was loved by his family, and will be missed deeply by all. He is survived by his spouse, Marie, his children Linda Gimma Safran, John Gimma, Jr., Elizabeth Gimma, Mario Gimma, and Elena Gimma, as well as his sister, Gloria Stewart, and his four grandchildren.

The memorial Service for John will be held Friday, April 9th, at 10:00 AM at St. Marks Evangelist Catholic Church, 7081 SE Highway 42, Summerfield, FL 34491. You may view and make tributes at: http://www.hiers-baxley.com/obituaries/John-Gimma/

I love you daddy. So sad. I will never see you again, or hear your funny laugh. You are forever in my heart. Elizabeth

I didn't know Mr Gimma personally; but, as a poor child I lived near his dealership in Gulfport. I would walk through his lot, and sometimes go inside and look at cars. Surely I have come in contact with him during that time. If his business reflects his character he was a fine man. I was always treated nicely when I would hang out around there. My sympathies to the entire Gimma family on your loss.
