Helen Rita Ankenbrandt

Ankenbrandt, Helen Rita, 80, of Ft. Lauderdale, passed away April 15, 2012 after a brief illness. Predeceased by two brothers, Joe and John Ankenbrandt. Beloved sister of brothers: Reverend Thomas F. Ankenbrandt of the Society of Jesus in Clarkston, MI, William R. Ankenbrandt of Jacksonville, FL and Charles M. Ankenbrandt of Warrenville, IL, and beloved sister of Kathleen M. Ankenbrandt of Ft. Lauderdale (aka: Sister Marie Helen, Society of the Sisters of Charity) and Barbara Dister of Hayes, VA; beloved aunt and great-aunt to nieces and nephews across the nation. Born and raised in Cleveland, OH. Helen attained her Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in mathematics from John Carroll University in Cleveland. Subsequently moved to south Florida where she taught mathematics at Rosarian Academy and Hollywood Hills High School for over 30 years. After retiring from teaching, she dedicated the rest of her life to works of mercy and charity to those she found in need throughout the community. Saintly in her lifestyle, she is remembered by many individuals and families who were suffering illness or hardship for her counsel and assistance. A dedicated member of St. Maurice Catholic Church community since its founding, she participated in the choir for over 20 years. She also participated and gave her time to other parish ministries and the senior group. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Hunger Program at St. Maurice Catholic Church, 2851 Stirling Road, Ft. Lauderdale, FL 33312. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, April 21, 2012, 10 a.m. at St. Maurice Catholic Church. Inurnment at Woodlawn Cemetery, West Palm Beach.
