Gary Gayle Wisener, age 82, passed away Monday, Dec. 7, 2020, in Hot Springs. He was born Aug. 24, 1938, in Warren.
Gary grew up in Fort Smith. He graduated from Fort Smith High School before moving on to Baylor University, where he played football as an offensive end and was named All-American on the track and field team. He was also a former wide receiver in the National Football League for the Dallas Cowboys and the American Football League for the Houston Oilers. He played for the Oilers in their second AFL Championship season.
After his time in the NFL, he returned to Baylor University to attend law school. Upon graduation, he moved to Midland, Texas, and joined Lynch & Chapell Law Firm in 1965, where he practiced oil, gas and energy law until his retirement. He was active with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and was an avid golfer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, R.C. and Ruth Wisener.
He is survived by a sister, Sandy Wisener of Knoxville, Tenn.; a son, Greg Wisener and wife Pam Duke of Kerrville, Texas; a daughter, Allison Owens and husband Phil of Georgetown, Texas; and a grandson, Gage Haugland and wife Madison of Austin, Texas.
There will be no services. Arrangements are under the direction of Caruth-Hale Funeral Home in Hot Springs.
