I can't believe its already been six months since I saw you last. Not a day goes by that I don't think about you and realize how big a part of my life you were (and still are). I find myself all the time reaching for the phone to give you a call to get your advice or to share something that Jackson did; now I just have that conversation with the "you" that is in my heart and will be there forever. I love you, I miss you more than ever and I'll see you later.

Joel, Heather and Jackson,

We were so sorry to hear the news about Joel's father. You'll have been in our thoughts and prayers over the past month. It is evident what a special man Walter must have been ... because we know what a special husband and father Joel is as well. Let us know if we can help in any way.

Love,

These passages help remind me of how good the LORD is and how to keep my faith as strong as yours. Missing you more everyday but so happy for you to now have peace.

Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding

- Proverbs 3:5

Faith is being sure of what we hope for & certain of what we do not see.

While I was only with Walt in Sigma Nu at Stetson in 1957-58, I'll always remember his very valuable guidance, advice and suggestions this lowly freshman and even lower pledge needed so badly. Then, being able to reconnect with him 52 years later, how great that was for me! Everyone one of us could only hope and pray we could really be the friend as was Walt. I would say God's richest blessings upon each member of his family but that would not be necessary for you already have them - you had Walt!

Your kind smile and loving spirit is what I think of when I think of you.  When we were lucky enough to visit with you at events with Joel and Heather you always made sure to make everyone feel welcome. You were always proud of your family and doted on each and every one of them.  I will always cherish the Christmas we shared at Joel's.  My little Emily wanted to snuggle with you most of the time we were there.  You embraced her as your own.  Thank you!  You will be greatly missed by so many.  Thank you for the great legacy of love and kindness that you leave behind!

I'm not going to say goodbye but rather that I'll see you later. You were the best of fathers, best of mentors and the best friend I've ever had. Your voice was the first I sought to hear to celebrate every achievement and was the first offered to soften the blow of each failure. I challenge myself to live up to the example you set and to dispense love with as generous a heart as you did. I love you, I'll miss you always and I'll see you later.
