Vest will truly be missed. I remember the 1st time I met him hanging with Vern, Shey and Kilo. He was a cool fellow and which we kicked it off as if I was one the boys from high school. Then a few years later I found out why we kicked it off like family, because we were family. Gonna miss you "cuz" (one of his favorite words he used to say). I pray that God keep our family strong and his immediate family even stronger, love all of you.

To the Davis and Greene Families,
I was so sad to hear of the passing of Sylvester. I had the pleasure of teaching both Sylvester and Tonya years ago. I have fond memories of them both. It hurts when someone so young passes away but God knows exactly what He is doing. We have to lean on Him and trust Him during this painful time.
It is my prayer that God will bless and keep you all until we meet Sylvester again in Heaven.
Sincerely yours,

To the Davis and Gainous families, my heartfelt condolences to you. I pray God's strength for each one of you. Vest was such a kind and respectful man. I met him years ago, through Tonya's sister. Kejika, Adrian & I had a lot of laughs when Vest was around. Even those times that I would see him around town, he would always have a smile and would only have kind words to speak. It's wonderful to know that though we can't see him, his spirit lives on. He left a precious gift behind: Kayla. Tonya, I pray that you & Kayla will be strengthened in Christ Jesus, and will walk in every blessing that He has set up for your lives. He is your Comforter & He is Love. Rest in peace, Vest, until we meet again.

I was always at the community center after school when I attended Griffin Middle School. And I Enjoyed talking to Sylvester everyday. He was like a brother I could talk to and A father that would tell me every thing I needed to know. From the boys, to school, to everyday activities. He never sugar coated anything he felt that I needed to hear. And I love him for that. It was nice to have someone like him in my life for these past four years. And I will truly miss him.

Heaven was missing an angel until God called Sylvester home. I knew him to be a true gentleman and a genuine lover of children. I witnessed the love he had for his companion and and especially the love he held for his sweet little girl. Sylvester had the kind of dedication and work ethic that is rare to find today. I know he was dedicated to his life's work because he didn't mind worrying with other people's children daily and did it with a smile. I thank the Lord for people like Sylvester Davis Jr.
Sylvester was a credit to his race and an asset to his community. I will miss him terribly. Who ever steps into his shoes at Dade Street will certainly have to walk the line to equal Sylvester's enthusiasm and exuberance and dedication to the boys and girls of the community.

To the family members of Sylvester Davis Jr.
Know and believe he is at peace with our father in heaven. One could not fully understand the love, understanding and grace of God without having known Sylvester here on earth. He was a great man. He was a friend and mentor to all those who knew him, all those children, parents and staff at Dade St. center and the city as well as those that he knew in the neighborhood and on the sports fields. At the center, Sylvester was always around, always there and he always made things better with his spirit and personality. He was actively involved with the community, always trying to make a difference in the lives of other people and their families.
Sylvester knew the boys father, Bernardo Knight and they were friends. Our childen, DeVon and MaShawn Knight attended summer camps and other activities at the Dade St. center and we participated in the center events. Sylvester always treated my children as well as his own, like family and we will miss him greatly.
We will forever respect, love and remember him for the things that he accomplished and the impact he made in our lives as well as the countless others at the center and within the community.
Our prayers are with you all.

My heart-felt sympathy to the

May he enter the heavens with
that "smile" and tell God I'm at peace now. "Rest on Son and take your rest. We love you but God love you best.
