Also preceding him in death were three sisters, Sherry Lovella Evans of Pensacola, Florida, Cynthia Gaddy and Betty McCants, both of Detroit Michigan a brother, Dan Evans and his wife Shirley Evans of Pensacola, Florida & a father and mother in law, Herman and Genie Edmonson of Austin Texas.
Willie confessed to Christ at an early age as a member of The Emmanuel Baptist Church of Pensacola Florida. In Austin he attended Zion Hill Baptist Church for several years. Then in his later years he attended East 19th St. Missionary Baptist Church under the direction and leadership of Rev M.C. Walker.
He attended the public schools of Pensacola, Escambia County Florida as well as a short time in Evergreen, Alabama. He graduated from Booker T. Willie moved to Austin, Texas in 1973 where he met and married Debra Manor. They were married for 51 years and in this union there were two children, the late Dorian J. McCorvey and Michael E. He held several jobs during his working career. In the early years he worked at construction where he mastered several trades and enjoyed working with relatives and friends including his stepfather.
