Robert Catlin Obituary

CATLIN, Dr. Robert A., of Tampa, passed away July 13, 2004, Dr. Catlin was a native of Chicago, Ill., and a resident of Tampa for many years. He began his career as a Staff Planner for Governmental Agencies and Community Organizations in Minneapolis, Los Angeles, Baltimore, Washington D.C., and New York City. He began his academic career as a Professor of Urban Planning. Dr. Catlin served as Dean of the College of Social Sciences at Florida Atlantic University, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Rutgers University-Camden, Associate Professor and Chair of the Political Science Department at University of South Florida from 1917-1982 and Vice- President and Provost of California State University- Bakersfield. He was currently a tenured Professor of Urban Planning and Public Policy at Rutgers University's Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy in New Brunswick, N.J. He is survived by his wife, Ethel; daughters, Janell and Michelle; and sister, Judith Crowe. Funeral se rvices will be held Saturday, July 24, at 1 p.m. at Mt. Tabor M. B. Church. Visitation will begin at 5 p.m., Friday, July 23, at Ray Williams Funeral Home Rhodes & Northern, Owners 301 N. Howard Avenue (813) 253-3419
