Angelo MASSARO Obituary

MASSARO M.D., Angelo

80, of Pembroke, VA, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, March 29, 2016. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gian Battista and Adelina Cacciatore Massaro; and his two brothers, John and Luigi. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Debra Massaro; sister, Lily Fazio; sons, Michael (Angie) Massaro, Mark (Sean) Massaro, Timothy Massaro, Christopher Massaro, and Giancarlo (Cara) Massaro; daughter, Briana Massaro; grandchildren, Nicholas, Olivia, and Camille. Angelo was born in Tampa, Nov. 7, 1935, and grew up living and working on his family owned farm, White Rose Dairy, and attended Hillsborough High School. He graduated from the University of Florida in 1957, and then continued his education at the University of Miami, School of Medicine. He served as a general surgeon at Bunker Hill Air Force Base during the Vietnam era. He continued his career at Florida Hospital practicing as a general surgeon for nearly three decades. Following retirement, he moved to Virginia with his wife, Debra, and their two children. He spent his time volunteering at the local free clinic, remodeling their 1860's dream home, and attending Holy Family Catholic Church. He enjoyed reading, antique collecting, and traveling with his family. As a man full of wisdom and unconditional love, Angelo will be missed by many. The family of Dr. Angelo Massaro will be honoring him with a ceremonial placement and final disposition of his ashes with Military Honors. Family and friends are asked to gather at Myrtle Hill Cremation Garden, Saturday, June 4, 11 am. A reception will follow at Nativity Catholic Church Social Hall, 705 E. Brandon Blvd., 12-2 pm.
