Jose Valiente Obituary

VALIENTE, Jose Ramon, 78, of Tampa, passed away on December 4, 2004. He was preceded in death by his mother, Francisca Salgado and father, Ramon Valiente. He is survived by his loving wife, Odilia Valiente; son, Jose E. Valiente and wife Lourdes; daughter, Isabel Valiente; two granddaughters, Melissa Lemus and Lauren Valiente; and a great-grandson, Anthony William Vara, Jr.; brother, Jorge Danilo Valiente; nephews, Jorge Valiente and wife Mercedes, Danilo Valiente, and Ricardito Martinez; his nieces, Odalys Valiente and husband Richard, Ileana Diaz, Yuniexi Valiente and husband Junior, Yuliexi Valiente and Odalita Martinez, cousins Clarita and Gilberto Hernandez and many other loving family and friends. Mr. Valiente immigrated to the United States from Cuba on October 5, 1962. He worked at the Centro Asturiano Hospital for 30 years. He was a registered nurse and started working as an orderly and eventually became director of nursing until his retirement. In that capacity he had the opportuni ty to help many in their times of need. He was admired and loved by many.He was a firm believer of a good education and afforded both of his children with college degrees. His son Jose and daughter Isabel are eternally grateful for his vision and courage when he made the decision to leave Cuba so that his children could be raised with the freedom to pursue their dreams.In lieu of flowers, Mr. Valiente would like for you to send a contribution to the USF Foundation, Latino Scholarship Program at 4202 E. Fowler Avenue, ALC 100, Tampa, FL 33620,Attention: Patsy FelicianoFamily will receive friends on Monday evening at Gonzalez Funeral Home from 7-10 and graveside services will be on Tuesday morning at 10:00 at Garden of Memories Mausoleum. Everyone is to meet at the cemetery.
