Margarethe Krusen Obituary

KRUSEN, Margarethe Mary Sauer, 84, passed away peacefully Saturday, December 18, 2004, at her home in South Tampa. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, William Andrew Krusen; her four children, Pamela Krusen Meyjes of New York City, William Andrew Krusen Jr. of Tampa, Christopher Barron Krusen of Portsmouth, Va., and Charles Beaubien Krusen of New York City; and her eight grandchildren, William A. Krusen III, Isabelle B. Krusen, Virginia B. Boyd, Daniel A. Krusen, Sarah R. Krusen, David P. Krusen, Grace E. Krusen and Taliaferro T. Krusen, who all loved their Gabby. Margo was born October 21, 1920, in Springer, N.M. She was the daughter of William Lawrence Sauer and Louise Valdez Sauer, and she grew up on the Sweetwater Ranch near Springer. Margo graduated from Mount Saint Scholastica College in Atchison, Kan., in 1941. On January 4, 1945, she married William Andrew Krusen in Dallas, Texas. They lived in Lima, Peru, and Chapel Hill, N.C., before moving to Tampa in 1947. Margo's life wa s dedicated to her husband, her children and grandchildren, and her many treasured friends. She was a past president of both the Red Cross Angels and the Easter Seal Guild, and a longtime member of the University of Tampa Chiselers, the Golf View Civic and Garden Association, and the Sew n Sews. Over the years, Margo and Bill traveled extensively throughout the United States and to 55 foreign countries. A memorial service to honor this most beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday, December 28, 2004, at Saint John's Episcopal Church, 902 South Orleans, Tampa, FL 33606. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in Margo's name to the Tampa Bay Chapter of the American Red Cross, P.O. Box 4236, Tampa, FL 33677, or to Messenger Films, P.O. Box 7592, Portsmouth, VA 23707.
