Pasquale Calderoni Obituary

CALDERONI, Pasquale "Daddy Pat," 77, a lifelong resident of Tampa, passed away November 9, 2010. Born January 6, 1933, to John and Gina Calderoni. His passion for life was only exceeded by his love for his family and friends. "Daddy Pat," as he was so fondly called, had a strong charismatic presence that was genuine and sincere. His zest for life was emitted through his laughter and joke telling. "Daddy Pat" truly knew no stranger. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and was employed with the U.S. Post Office from 1958-1988. He served as president of the Postal Credit Union for over 25 years, still holding that position at the time of his death. Upon retiring from the Post Office, he owned and operated Pat Calderoni Realty. He was a board member of the Greater Tampa Association of Realtors and served as president of the Ybor City Optimist Club. He was a member of the Optimist Club, The Italian Culture Club, The Italian Club, and the Sons of Italy for over 50 years, holding many administrative positions during his tenure. He joined the Rough Riders in 1993, attending almost all of their events, from fund raisers and parades to poker tournaments and was the proud winner and owner of the Texas Hold' em gold bracelet! He was predeceased by his wife, Aida; son, Pat Calderoni Jr.;

and his brother, Joe Calderoni. He is survived by his children, Steve Calderoni (Cari), Patricia Calderoni, Rick Calderoni, Albert Garcia (Elena), Alan Garcia, and Anita Arredondo (Tony); beloved nano to Ashleigh, Carli, Rachael, Chad, Remi, Ben, Haven, Will, Noah and Alyssa; beloved great-nano to Anthony Green Jr. (A.J.); sisters, Frances Bullara and Nancy Castellano; companion, Mary Jane Ramos; and many loving nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Friday, November 12, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, 5225 N. Himes Ave., with Monsignor Laurence E.

Higgins, P.A., Pastor Emeritus, officiating. Entombment will follow at Myrtle Hill Memorial Park. Pallbearers include Paul Bullara III, John Calderoni, Robert Castellano, Mark Hampton, Leo Matassini and Nick Matassini.

Honorary Pallbearers include his lifelong friend for over 70 years, Franklin Thornton, and the Rough Riders 1st U.S. Volunteer Calvary. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the time of Mass Friday, November 12 at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Mike Alstott Family Foundation, P.O. Box 40055, St. Petersburg, FL 33743. The purpose of life’s journey is not to arrive at the grave with a well-preserved body, but rather to Slide in Sideways, completely used up, yelling and screaming, what a ride! — Author Unknown

This describes Daddy Pat to a T. He lived life to the fullest and always lit up the room when he arrived, and believe me we knew when he arrived. Pat was old school, which I liked, family and friends came first. I can tell you any friend of the family was a friend of Pats'.

They say a measure of a mans life is the dash. You know the dash on a tombstone between date of birth and death. This represents ones life. Pats dash could fill a couple of books from what I have seen and heard.

Thanks Pat for giving me the little Brother I never had. We will all be together down the road.

"I thought of you with love today but that is nothing new
I thought about you yesterday and days before that too,
I think of you in silence I often speak your name
All I have are memories and your picture in a frame
Your memory is my keepsake with which I'll never part
God has you in His keeping I have you in my heart."

Nano, I am missing you so much and remembering all of the wonderful times I got to share with you. Like when you would take Carli and me to school in the mornings and take us to McDonald's for breakfast and during the whole car ride, you would sing funny songs and whistle the whole way there. I feel so lucky to call you my nano, and I'm glad you got to meet my son, Baby A.J. We were all truly blessed to have you in our lives. I'm happy to know that you are now an angel along with Nani, and Uncle Lil' Pat looking down and watching over us every day. I can't believe you're gone and I won't be able to come to you for advice anymore or to just be able to talk to you, laugh and joke like we always have, but I pray that you guide me through the many journeys I will encounter the rest of my life and point me in the right direction. Your memory will live on through us and you will never be forgotten.

I love you always and forever.

Dad,
You were a great father with a zest for life that was rivaled by few men that I have ever met. You were honest,fair and always there for your family and friends and I love you for that and for just being "Dad". There will be a void in my life without you physically being here ,but I know your spirit and memory will always be here with us. RC
