C. Buckley Obituary

C. Hayden Buckley, 83, died June 29, 2013, at Martin Medical Center South, Stuart. He was born in Berlin Heights, Ohio, and lived in Stuart for 17 years, coming from Waynesburg, Pa. He graduated from Ohio Wesleyan University, was a member of Alpha Sigma Phi Fraternity and was inducted into its sports Hall of Fame, having played football and baseball. He received a Master of Arts degree from Kent State University. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a football coach with East Liverpool High School and Martins Ferry High School in Ohio. He coached at George Washington University, the University of Virginia and West Virginia University. He went on to become athletic director and head football coach at Waynesburg University, Waynesburg, Pa., for 10 years. In retirement, he worked at the Florida Club. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Marilyn (Davis) Buckley of Stuart; and sisters, Karen Althaus and Lesley Ludlam. Memorial contributions may be made to Give a Smile to a Child Foundation, P.O. Box 32021, Palm Beach Gardens, FL, 33420; and the Humane Society of the Treasure Coast, 4100 S.W. Leighton Farms Road, Palm City, FL. Services: Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. July 8 at the Stuart Congregational Church in Stuart. Arrangements are by All County Funeral Home and Crematory Treasure Coast Chapel.
