Richard Schwan Obituary

Richard Charles Schwan, 89, died Dec. 25, 2008, at his home. He was born in Dansville, N.Y., and lived in Spanish Lakes Country Club for 22 years, coming from Williamsburg, Va. Before retirement, he was a materials technician for the Virginia Department of Highways. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific Theatre, and recieved the Presidential Citation. He was a member of the Community Church in Vero Beach and an affiliate of the Heisey Glass Museum in Newark, Ohio. Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Leila N. Schwan of Fort Pierce; stepdaughters, Terrilee Beal of Vero Beach and Jennifer Hinds of Virginia Beach, Va.; sons, James Schwan and Barry Schwan, both of Virginia; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his stepson, Glenn Murawski. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice Foundation, c/o Treasure Coast Hospices, 1201 S.E. Indian St., Stuart, FL 34997. SERVICES: A memorial celebration will be at 11 a.m. Jan. 3 in the Grace Chapel of the Community Church in Vero Beach. Burial will be at South Florida National Cemetery, Lake Worth. Arrangements are by Cox-Gifford-Seawinds Funeral Home and Crematory, Vero Beach. An online guestbook may be signed at www.seawindsfh.com/obit.php. �
