LEXINGTON, Ky. — James F. "Bub" Kearns, 80, of Troy, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2018, in Lexington, Ky., surrounded by his family.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran, born in Springfield, Ohio, Nov. 29, 1937, and a 1955 graduate of Catholic Central High School. His unmatched wit, charm and contagious smile will be missed by all who have had the pleasure of meeting and spending time with him. We have never met someone so sharp, genuine and selfless.
He loved nothing more than spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as friends and neighbors. May his legacy live on through those of us left behind as a legend, through reflections in us and with us always. You never knew what he may say next, but you never forgot it.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Loretta (Meyer) Kearns; and brother, Joseph.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Judy (Lyons) Kearns; brother Jim A. Kearns; and six children, Kathy Markley (Bruce), Tim Kearns (Tracy), Cindy Johnson (Jeff), Karen Monnin (Doug), Jody Hutson (Chris), Tom Kearns (Holly); 17 grandchildren, David, Angie, Ashley, Jenny, Andy, Mandy, Amber, Emily, Brent, Joey, Lindsey, Matthew, Courtney, Austin, Marissa, Caitlyn, and Alicya; 15 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
No services. His wishes were for a celebration of life with family.

To Judy and the entire Kearns family, love & prayers to you and letting you know how much we were saddened to hear of Bub's passing. We treasure the time we shared at the family gatherings, and it was so great to visit with him and the whole family this summer at the Franzen family re union. Bub and my Dad were two of a kind, we will forever remember their love of God, love of family, sense of humor and the quick wise cracks that would make you smile again & again each time recalling that memory. We love you all and celebrate the memories of Bub's life and honor the great Kearns/Franzen family heritage weve been blessed to be a part.
God Bless, from the entire Franzen Family!
