Hedy was one of the kindest people I knew back in the early days at Benton Central. She was always eager to help or get in trouble with us. She will be missed.

Hedy Lou Peterson, 60, of Berkley, CA. and formerly of Oxford, IN. died at her residence in Berkley Wednesday October 26, 2011.Hedy was born in Lafayette, IN. May 4, 1951, the daughter of Margaret Peercy Peterson Hay and the late William Robert Peterson. She was a graduate of Benton Central High School and attended Purdue University. Hedy had resided the past 35 years in California, with the last 19 years in Berkley. She was a designer and maker of leather handbags.Surviving is her mother, Margaret Hay of Plainfield, IN.; a sister, Vicki Bonachea of Herndon, VA.; and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the HAHN-GROEBER FUNERAL HOME, Oxford, from 5 until 8 PM Thursday. A memorial service will be held at the Plainfield United Methodist Church, 600 Simmons St., Plainfield, IN 46168 at 11 AM Saturday, with visitation one hour prior to the service, Rev. Ted Bossler officiating. Inurment will follow in the church columbarium. Memorials may be made to the East Bay Humane Society, 2700 9th St., Berkley, CA. 94710.
