During my childhood, my sister and I would spend weekend nights watching the Love Boat and Fantasy Island. As we watched in the living room, more nights than not the dining room would be filled with the sounds and laughter of our parents playing card games with Harold and his wife Jude. Harold and my mom were cousins. When we woke up the next morning, Karen and I would race to find the small coins H&J had left on the baseboard heaters for us.

I have so many fond memories of Uncle Harold. He was an active part of my childhood, and after I moved to California in 1992, we kept in contact by mail ( although Jude was the letter writer, she wrote for them both..) and when I visited home. I am glad that my wife and I were able to host them on their CA vacation in 2005, taking them around San Francisco, and up north to a Renaissance Fair, and yes, casino.

Harold was the last of the four living, and while I am saddened at his passing, I only hope, and entertain warm thoughts, of the four of them together again, having a good time and laughing all night long.

(My deepest appreciation to his "Friendly" friends and your posts here, the easygoing camaraderie you all shared...was just wonderful. I used to work at a Dunkin Donuts and know how tight the "regular scene" can be. I pray we can get past Covid and all reconnect again)

Staff of Emanuel Village

September 21, 2020

Harold resided at Emanuel Village for almost two years. During that time, he was well liked, kind, and enjoyed interacting with staff and fellow residents. Harold loved sharing memories of pigeon racing and his beloved wife. He also loved his daily trips to Friendly's (rain or shine).

Our condolences to his family. Harold will be missed.

Words can not express how sad I am to see this. Harry was a great man who find a place in my heart. I had the pleasure of waiting on Harry everyday at Friendly's for years. He became family to me. Since Covid I did talk to Harry and visted him and like always he has a smile on his face when he saw me. The only comfort I have in this is he is finally back with his love Jude. If Friendly's every reopens I will always look at table 46 and see him sitting there RIP Harry you were loved!!

Harry was a joy to see every Sunday morning at Friendly's. He'd always stop at our table, say hi to the kids, compliment how well-behaved they were, told us to watch over them and went about his day. Since Covid took that weekly interaction away from us, we'd think of Harry often and are saddened to hear of his passing.
