Bertha Jonas Obituary
WORCESTER - Bertha (Sher) Jonas, 87, of Worcester, died on Thursday, August 7, 2014, after a short illness.
She leaves her husband of 67 years, Bernard Jonas; a son, Frederick Jonas and his wife, Geri of California; two daughters, Vivian, wife of Elliot Honig of Worcester and Eileen, wife of Steve Schongold of Sharon; two sisters, Reva, wife of Sumner Weisman of Framingham and Faye Ripinsky of New York; 5 grandchildren, Brandon Asher Jonas, Michael Jonas, Avrom Honig, Joshua Honig and Alyse Schongold. She was predeceased by a brother, Milton Sher.
She was born in Worcester, daughter of Abraham and Molle Esther (Sandler) Sher. For years, she worked for Israel Bonds. She was Horace Mann at Commerce High School and worked at the Bank of America Operations Center for several years. She was a Past President of the Parents Teachers Association of the Yeshiva Achei Tmimim. She was a life member of Mizrachi and a member of the Jonas Family Circle.
FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD AT 1 P.M. TODAY, FRIDAY, AUGUST 8, AT THE YESHIVA ACHEI TMIMIM, 22 NEWTON AVENUE, UNDER THE DIRECTION OF THE RICHARD PERLMAN OF MILES FUNERAL HOME OF HOLDEN. Burial will be in B'Nai Brith Cemetery.
Memorial Observance will be held through Thursday noon, August 14, at her residence.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

I was looking at the channel guide at JLTV, & noticed "Feed Me Bubbe" was on (too late tonight, tho). I have watched just about every episode...& enjoyed them all!
Your Bubbe was a warm & wonderful character, & I tried some of her recipes (delicious!).
Watching her was a treat, so, thank you, Avrom, for bringing her into our homes, our heats & our stomachs.
It was an honor & a privilege for me to "know" her.
May her memory be a blessing.

Bertha Sher Jonas brought us all a sense of comfort through her simple uncomplicated "haimeshe" recipes, sans all the pomp and circumstance of today's pretentious TV chefs. I kvelled from her adorable New England accent and watching her cook in that very familiar functional kitchen full of love
That throwback Corning Ware coffee pot was an ever present fixture in my home growing up in Brooklyn . All the images in Bubbe's kitchen were reminiscent of an era gone by of both simplicity and warmth.
Oh how I miss both my grandmothers so much
Bertha always made me smile and when tuning in to JLTV I always hoped Bubbe would be on ! When I needed that comforting feeling that only Bubbe could bring, there she was ========= !
Her little tricks with cotton thread and all her budget conscious "shticklach" were what made her so unique and so lovable. Matza balls for "A CROWD" You gotta love it !

Bubbe' you are missed very much. I am 70yrs old now and have been following your show for several years. I still am to this day even though you have passed on to be with God and family. God bless you and your family for teaching us the GREAT recipes that you have.

I do send my deepest condolences to you and your family. Bubbe brought such joy to me every time I watched her program. She so reminded me of my Grandmother, who through her kindnesses and teachings introduced me to my Jewish heritage of which I am so proud
