I met Fred in 2005 when I moved next door to he and Cappy. Fred was such a happy delightful man. We keep in touch after I moved back to Texas. He would send me funny jokes, always laughing and brightened my day. I will miss him too. Condolences to the family, especially Cappy.

Fred´s Song Still Plays
Some people leave memories-
Fred left music.
A clarinet voice rising warm and clear,
seventy-two years of breath and soul
woven into melodies that never hurried,
never boasted,
just shone.
He played for his country,
steady as a drumbeat in the Air Force Band.
He played for his community,
lifting the Hot Springs Concert Band
with notes that felt like sunlight.
And he played for joy-
the pure, simple joy
of letting a song say what words could not.
Life was his dance floor,
and he moved through it in perfect time-
a quick step, a laugh,
a joke shared like a cymbal crash,
a smile that opened every door.
He met Cappy in that rhythm,
two hearts finding the same tempo,
and they never stopped dancing.
He loved people the way he loved music-
fully, generously,
with a warmth that filled the room
like the opening chord of a favorite hymn.
Though the stage is quiet now,
his melody lingers.
It hums in the rafters of every hall he played,
in the stories we tell,
in the kindness he scattered like soft percussion.
Listen closely-
You can still hear it.
A clarinet line drifting upward,
steady and sure,
reminding us that Fred´s song
didn´t end.
It simply changed keys.
