Peter Gavin Obituary
Pete is survived by his wife of 18 years, Andrea J. (Johnson) Gavin; a son, Sean M. Gavin and his wife, Valerie of Ft. Myers, Florida; a daughter, Amy M. Braun and her husband, Volker of Holden; a brother, Paul Gavin and his wife, Cynthia of Medway; a sister, Nancy P. Erb and her husband, Elisha of Leominster; three grandchildren, Lexus, Ilona and Hayden; also survived by several nieces and nephews.
He was born in Natick, son of the late Walter and Margaret (Griffin) Gavin. He attended Marian High School in Framingham. He then graduated from Natick High School and Northeastern University with a degree in marketing. He later moved to Shrewsbury in 1993. Mr. Gavin served his country proudly with the United States Army during the Vietnam Era.
Pete had worked for the past several years as the Compliance Officer for American Stop Loss in Worcester before he left due to illness. Previously he was employed as the Director of the Special Risks Department at the former State Mutual Insurance for over 25 years.
Pete was a compassionate, friendly kinda guy who always had a smile on his face and was very proud of his Irish heritage. He enjoyed traveling, the beach, and taking family vacations to his favorite spot, Cape Cod. Pete loved to play golf, a game in which he learned to play at a very young age.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Mr. Gavin's family on Friday, December 26th from 5-7 P.M. in the Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main Street, Shrewsbury. His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, December 27th at 9:30 A.M. in Saint Mary's Church, 640 Main Street, Shrewsbury. Entombment will follow in Saint John's Cemetery, Worcester. Flowers may be sent or memorial contributions can be made to Overlook Visiting Nurses Association Inc & Hospice Services, 88 Masonic Home Road, Charlton, MA 01507.

We were so sorry to hear that Peter has passed away. He was a great guy and we will both cherish the memories we had with him. He had a great wit, sense of humor and wonderful smile.
