Keith D. Stark died peacefully Feb. 19, 2016, with his devoted daughter Virginia at his side. During the days he was in the hospital he was surrounded by family and dear friends. Keith was born July 27, 1924, in Fort Dodge, IO.
Everyone who knew Keith loved him. He was an extraordinarily good friend to all. He had a wonderful sense of humor and loved a good joke or funny story. He was a truly good Christian man and example to all of his friends and family.
Keith was married to the love of his life, Mary Ellen Klouda, on Dec. 7, 1946. They were married just six days short of 62 years. Wherever you saw one of them, the other was sure to be there also. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend.
Keith served in the Navy Seabees in the Pacific Theatre during World War II, after which he worked for the fire department in Cedar Rapids, IO for 10 years. He then joined the U. S. Postal Service in Iowa. In 1960, the family moved to Salinas, where he worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a letter carrier for 26 years.
As a member of Northminster Presbyterian Church, he served as a Deacon and an Elder. He was also a member of the Hillcrest group. Keith was instrumental in starting a Cribbage group at NPC which grew into the Cribbage group at Active Seniors, Inc., where he was also a member.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Mary Ellen; daughter, Kathy Stark Gray; one brother and two sisters.
Keith is survived by his daughter, Virginia (Ginny) Stark of Pacific Grove; grandchildren: Ben Eadington (Kira), Mona Eadington, Nathan Gray, Sarah Pate; nephew, Greg Knapp, and eight great-grandchildren, and by his best friend, Norton Strand.
His Memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, April 16, 2016, at Northminster Presbyterian Church, 315 East Alvin Drive, Salinas.
Memorial contributions may be made to Northminster Presbyterian Church or Active Seniors, Inc., 100 Harvest, Salinas, CA 93901.
