Dolores K. Barsavage

Mrs. Dolores Krause Barsavage, age 81, of Montoursville, Pa., formerly of Dushore, Pa., passed away Tuesday, May 26, 2009, at the Williamsport Hospital after a brief illness.

Dolores was born on May 12, 1928, in Mount Clemens, Mich., a daughter of the late Clyde A. and Anna Kochen Krause. She was raised in Dushore and graduated from the Dushore High School, a member of the class of 1946.

She enrolled in Madam Fenwick's Beauty Academy in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., from which she graduated in 1948. She worked at different salons in Wilkes-Barre before she and her sister Jane Krause Kerstetter opened up a salon, which was located across from the monument in Dushore.

Dolores married Joseph Paul Barsavage, from Mildred, Pa., on Sept. 17, 1960; Joe predeceased her on June 20, 1976. In 1961, Jane married and Dolores continued as a beautician in Dushore, eventually moving her shop to her home on South German Street until her retirement in 1994, when she moved to Montoursville.

She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Montoursville, and a former member of St. Basil's Church, Dushore. While in Montoursville, she was active with the area Girl Scouts, the YMCA, the Cancer Society, the Williamsport Historical Society and the Center for Independent Living.

Surviving are: a sister, Jane Kerstetter of Montoursville; her brother, Mike (Rose) Gregori of Dushore; her brother-in-law, Stephen Sysock of Mildred; her nieces, Lisa (Domenick) Durinzi of Indianapolis, Ind., Ann (Rick) Day of New Market, Md., and Michelle (Mark) Minier of Dushore; her nephews, Charles (Cindy) Kerstetter of Williamsport, Pa., and Michael Gregori of Dushore; her great-nieces, Jayna, Markie , Shelby and Whitney; and her great-nephews, Charles and Cody.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at noon on Saturday, May 30, at St. Basil's Church with the Rev. Joseph R. Hornick, pastor, presiding. Interment will be in St. Basil's Cemetery and will be private.

The family will be receiving friends and celebrating Dolores' life at St. Francis Hall in Mildred immediately following the Mass.

The family will provide the flowers, and directs that memorials be sent to the Center for Independent Living, 210 Market St., Suite A., Williamsport, PA 17701. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore.
