Stephen Massad Obituary

East Lyme - Stephen L. Massad Sr., 64, of East Lyme and Orlando, Fla., passed away unexpectedly on Monday, Nov. 19, 2018, in Orlando following a brief illness.

Stephen was born in New London, on Aug. 4, 1954, the son of the Louis F. and Gloria P. Massad, both of whom predeceased him. He was a 1972 graduate of St. Bernard High School and earned his bachelor's degree in business in 1976 from Providence College.

Stephen was president of Massad Insurance in New London, Amity Insurance in Old Saybrook, Holmes Insurance in Uncasville and Stula Insurance in Colchester. He began his career with his dad on the real estate side of the business (Massad Agency), was named Realtor of the Year, and eventually focused solely on insurance. He was also active in local politics, serving as a city councilor in New London from 1977 to 1981. He will be remembered by family and friends as a great resource, always willing to lend a hand - anything, anytime.

Stephen is survived by his son, Stephen L. Massad II and his wife, Jennie, and their children, Amelia and Cooper of Shelton, grandchildren who always brought him happiness; his partner of 17 years, Bolivar I. Gonzalez; his sister, Andrea M. Hall and her children, Brandon and Marissa; his brother, Gregory P. Massad and his wife, Kristin and their children, Alexa, Erica, Matthew, Olivia and Sophia; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

In addition to his parents, Stephen was predeceased by his brother, Thomas J. Massad.

To honor Stephen's wishes, there were no services. The family thanks Byles Memorial Home, New London, for coordinating and handling the arrangements.

When I attended St. Bernard School me and Stephen often talk, caught the same bus back home, he was some what the quite ones.
As years went by we talk brief about those red jacket we had to wear, how was business going on Colman Street, talk about our class mates that we both knew.
Now that he have pass as a dear friend he will never be forgot being so kind to people remember of you.
Heaven will be build with kindest forever more with him.
