Dwight "Jack" Harner Jr.

1938 - 2017

Dwight "Jack" Harner,Jr., 78, of 1110 Motz St. in St. Marys, died at 3:10 p.m. Tuesday, April 18, 2017, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital in St. Marys.
He was born on July 13, 1938, in St. Marys, to Dwight "Jack" and Ruth (Hennie) Harner Sr.
On Sept. 8, 2012, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in St. Marys, he married Margaret "Maggie" R. Hart, who survives.
He is also survived by: sons, Dwight (Kymbir Evans) Harner III of St. Marys and Drew Harner of St. Marys; daughters, April (Kevin) Hoel of St. Marys and Angela (Mike) Jaeger of Celina; stepdaughter, Jeanne (Jim) Klopfenstein of St. Marys; stepson, Steve (Jennifer) Ginter of St. Marys; stepdaughter, Marcy (Derek) Wyldes of Strongsville; 16 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; sister, Jill Shepler of Kendallville, Ind.; and sister-in-law, Gloria Harner of Mendon.
He was preceded in death by parents, Dwight "Jack" and Ruth Harner; first wife, Cynthia (Arnold) Harner; and brother, Joe Harner.
He was a graduate of St. Marys Memorial High School and proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy.
Jack retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. in St. Marys, where he was a supervisor in the engineering department. An accomplished guitar player, he was a member of several bands, including "Roscoe and His Little Green Men," "The Originals" and "J.C. & Co."
Funeral rites are scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Miller – Long & Folk Funeral Home (314 W. High St. Chapel) in St. Marys, with the Rev. Barry Stechschulte, officiating. Burial, with graveside military honors, will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery in St. Marys. Visitation will take place from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home on High Street.
