Roger Stone Obituary
Roger J. Stone, 84, of South Salem, NY, husband of Gloria (Corbo) Stone, died on Sunday, February 17, 2013 at the Norwalk Hospital.
Mr. Stone was born in New Canaan, CT, June 29, 1929, a son of the late Noris J. and Edwina (Favreau) Stone. He attended New Canaan schools and graduated from New Canaan High School in the Class of 1947.
A resident of New Canaan from 1929 to 1950 moving to South Salem, NY, Mr. Stone was a retired artesian well driller. He was a U.S. Army veteran.
Active in the Lewisboro community, Mr. Stone was a member of the Lewisboro Lions Club, a member of the Vista Fire Department and served as a past chief and was a member of St. Mary Parish of Ridgefield.
He enjoyed reading, golf, gardening and was an all around handyman.
In addition to his wife, Gloria of sixty-two years, he is survived by two daughters, Lisa Nicholson and her husband, Thomas of Hedgesville, West Virginia and Wendy Cox and her husband, Robert of South Salem, NY; a son, Roger J. Stone, Jr. and his wife, Nydia of Miami Beach, FL; a grandson, Thomas P. Nicholson, III and a great grandson, Rone Nicholson.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, February 21, 2013 at 10 AM in St. Mary Church, Ridgefield. Interment will take place in St. Mary Cemetery, Ridgefield. The family will receive friends in the Kane Funeral Home, 25 Catoonah St., Ridgefield on Wednesday, February 20, 2013 from 5 PM to 8 PM.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Vista Fire Department Emergency Medical Services, 377 Smith Ridge Road, South Salem, NY 10590.
