Mosher, R. Kennard

R. Kennard Mosher, of Newfield, NY, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 25, 2016. Mr. Mosher was born in Endicott, NY, on March 13, 1926. Ken entered military service at the age of 17. He served from 1943-1946 as a Marine Corpsman in the Pacific Theater of World War II. Upon returning from the war, Kennard graduated from Vestal Central High School in June 1947. This same year, he married the love of his life, Eleanor Traver, with whom he shared the next sixty-eight years. He attended Ithaca College before completing his Bachelor of Science degree at Summit University (formerly Baptist Bible College) in Clarks Summit, PA. In 1978, Ken went on to receive his Masters Degree in Counseling at Marywood University. He was a licensed Professional Counselor in the states of Pennsylvania and Ohio and a National Certified Counselor by the National Board for Certified Counselors, Inc. With his wife, he served at Summit University for over twenty-five years as an administrator, coach, and instructor. Affectionately known as "Coachie Mo", he was a beloved mentor to scores of students. After leaving Summit University, he worked in various church ministries, serving as assistant pastor, Christian school principal and counselor. Mr. Mosher is survived by four children, Dan (Donna) Mosher of Sand Creek, MI; Suzanne (Dean) Everhart of Newfield, NY; Sharon (Dr. Craig) Wilson of Clarks Summit, PA; and Jean Mosher of Hummelstown, PA; nine grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren and his niece, Mary Jane (Carl) Williams of Endicott, NY. A Memorial Service will be held at First Baptist Church of West Danby, NY, on Wednesday, March 2, 2016, with calling hours from 11:00-1:45 PM and the service at 2:00 PM. Burial will be in Vestal Hills Cemetery in Vestal, NY, on Thursday, March 3, 2016, at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the Ken and Eleanor Mosher Alumni Fund at Summit University of Clarks Summit, PA.
