Dan Stucky Obituary

Daniel "Dan" P.I. Stucky, 81, formerly of El Dorado,, went to be with the Lord on Saturday (Nov. 3, 2018) at The Cedars, McPherson.

Dan's life began Dec. 22, 1936, as the 10th child of Peter T. and Ida J.C. (Gehring) Stucky in the rural home of Moundridge. He graduated from Burns High School in 1955. He loved basketball and played on the state championship team in 1953. He was an avid KU fan. He attended one year of college at Bethel, Newton.

On Dec. 6, 1960, at the First Mennonite Church of Burns, he was united in marriage to Alice (Myers), his one and only love, and the romance never ended. He was a devoted husband for 57 1/2 years. They made their home one mile west of Burns on the farm, where they were blessed with three children and were able to raise the children on the farm before moving to Peabody.

He was a devoted father and his greatest joy was his family. Dan was a quiet man, sweet and ornery, with a smirking grin. He will be missed forever. He retired from USD 398 Peabody-Burns and retired from Peabody Housing Authority/Weigard-Omega Management.

Dan's loving family includes his wife, Alice Stucky of the home; one son, Dale (Molly) of McPherson; his daughter, Darla (Mark) Jones of El Dorado; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Donna Kay; his parents; seven brothers: Samuel, Jonathan (Jonas), David, Paul, Philip, John, Joseph; one sister, Esther Ott; and a host of relatives and friends.

A gathering will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday (Nov. 6, 2018) at Heritage Funeral Home, located at 206 E. Central Ave, El Dorado. Celebration of his life will be held at the Burns Countryside Church of rural Burns. The memorial service is planned for 10 a.m. on Wednesday (Nov. 7, 2018). Interment will be in the First Mennonite/Burns Countryside cemetery. Lunch will follow at noon at the Burns Community Center.

Memorial contributions in his memory may be directed to the Burns Countryside Church Benevolent Fund and Gideons Bible.
