We spent a year working in the same outbuilding together at UTHC at Tyler in 1979-1980. We were both in a limbo of sorts working there temporarily. He was waiting to take the exams necessary to practice medicine in the US, despite having an illustrious career in Poland already. I was waiting for my fiancé to finish medical school. My father's family were Polish, from Galicia, but had become as American as possible a generation earlier, so I was intrigued by his cultural norms. We spent coffee hour together every morning. He practicing his English and me learning some basic polish (which I never learned from my family at home.) He was brilliant, kind and determined with a wonderful sense of humor. I am pleased to see that he was able to resume his medical practice. I know that he blessed many lives with his compassion.
