DEATH NOTICE

Death Notice for Margaret Dell Lewless (nee Trethewey) known affectionately as "Marg" or "Margie", age 73 years, of Rock Sound, Eleuthera, formerly of Toronto, Canada, died at the Princess Margaret Hospital, Nassau, Bahamas on Tuesday September 13th, 2016.

Margie was the daughter of the late Hilliard and Dell Trethewey and grew up in Toronto, Canada, where she met and married her first husband Robert Slatter. They relocated to the Bahamas in 1965, and welcomed the birth of her only son David in October 1967. She later remarried, to Patrick "Joey" Lewless, whom she would have celebrated 27 years of marriage on October 29, 2016.

Margie became well known in local teaching circles having taught at St. Augustine's College for 22 years. She retired from St. Augustine's College in 1993, however staying true to her love of coaching and training young people, she together with her husband Joey, opened a swim school, 'Lewless Learn to Swim'. In 2001, they made the decision to fully retire and moved to Rock Sound, Eleuthera.

She was known for her ease in conversations and throughout her life maintained a sweet and simple demeanor that won the trust and hearts of many.

Margie is survived by her faithful and loving husband: Patrick "Joey" Lewless; her loving son: David Slatter; grandchildren: Kaitlyn and Katherine Slatter; daughter-in-law: Gillian Beckles-Slatter; stepchildren: Diane Chea and Molly Cancino; sisters-in-law: Doris Brandley, Trena Knight, Linda Sands, Sharon Rivait and Jean Lewless; brothers-in-law: Al Lewless, Jerry Lewless, Carrol Sands and Larry Rivait; stepsons-in-law: Ricky Chea and Perry Cancino; nephews: Philip Trethewey and Colin Trethewey; Fondly remembered by her first husband Robert 'Bob' Slatter; the McCormick clan of Muskoka; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Margie's life will be celebrated in a memorial to be held on Tuesday, October 4th, 2016 at 5:00 p.m. at the Nassau Yacht Club, East Bay Street.

The family wishes to thank all of those who cared for her during her last illness including the staff at the PMH Private Women's Medical Ward.
