I am blessed to have known him as Uncle Dan. Like his two brothers, Uncle Dan was an accomplished surgeon, grounded in his faith. He was a courageous leader in the community and a kind, loving family man. He led by example, as he was driven by compassion and purpose, fueled by his faith. He was an exemplary individual who was truly a role model to those fortunate enough to have known him. And, although I do realize what a special individual Uncle Dan was, it has become increasingly more evident as I continue to read these anecdotal entries. Thanks everyone for sharing. Uncle Dan was loved by many and will truly be missed. My condolences to the family, especially my father, who not only lost his brother but a best friend. May he rest in peace.

I was eighteen years young when Dr. Dan saved my life after I suffered a gunshot wound while deer hunting. Two additional surgeries led Dr. Dan to once remind me "I know you better from the inside than out." I will never forget Dr. Dan Sartor. He was a brilliant surgeon and a consummate gentleman. I know he is now having fellowship with The Great Physician. Blessings upon you all. Mickey Hawkins, Pastor, Cinco Baptist Church, Fort Walton Beach, Florida.

He had worked all night in surgery and was as fresh as a daisy. He reveled in taking care of his patients and inspired us all. " William Belsom (Monroe, La.)
