Following that achievement, she taught reading to seventh and eight graders in Wautoma Junior High School. Neenah then hired her to teach reading in their Junior High School. She traveled extensively, visiting all 50 states and several countries in Europe. In 1994, Anita enrolled in the three Gemological Institute of America extension classes (diamond grading, colored stones and gem identification). Her heart surgery precluded her finishing the home study courses; she pursued further knowledge at the National Association of Jewelry Appraisers workshops in Tucson, Annapolis, and Hofstra University.

Dr. Anita Dahlke was one of those angels on earth. I met her my first day in college. She hired me as a student employee in her Reading Study Center. I have thought of her often these 43 years.

Words can't expressed the impact she had on my family as well as myself. She believed in me at a time, when I was so unsure of my future and because of her, I too am in the Education field of study. Her memory lives on..

Anita was my first boss at the University; I worked at the Reading-Study Center for 10 years. What a privilege! She taught me so much, including the need to always introduce yourself with the phrase, "...and the study skills class is not remedial!" Her dignity and kindness will never be forgotten.
