OBERLIN — Herbert H. Henke, born May 29, 1931, to Gustav and Antjie Henke in Cleveland, Ohio, passed away Aug. 16, 2015, after a brief illness. He is survived by his wife, Sabra (nee Chambers); daughter, Lia Lowrie, daughter-in-law Kathe Henke; son-in-law Peter Neumann; and grandchildren Aileen, Owen, and Kellen Lowrie, Debra Henke, and Olivia and Julia Neumann. He was predeceased by a son, Kevin Henke; and a daughter, Jeanine Neumann. Dr. Henke was an emeritus professor of music education at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music and recognized for his use of Dalcroze Eurhythmics in music education. A service in celebration of his life will be held at the First Church of Oberlin UCC on Sept. 12, 2015, at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the Oberlin Conservatory of Music Herbert Henke Merit Scholarship in Music Education or to Oberlin Community Services. Arrangements are in the care of Dicken Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Elyria.
