Georgia Munger Obituary

Georgia Munger Georgia Munger passed away Wednesday, April 18, 2012, having lived to witness a final spring since her leukemia diagnosis in 2008. Georgia was born in 1929 in Lamar, Colorado where she grew up on her family's dairy farm, and graduated from high school in 1945. In college, she obtained her teaching credentials, and together with husband Glenn Munger, taught elementary school on both the east and west coasts, settling in Olympia, WA in 1958. Georgia was a teacher and school librarian in the Olympia School District for many years. In retirement, she remained active in the education community, and enjoyed art, music, books, and observing nature. In particular, she pursued her lifelong calling as an artist, and was active locally in creating and displaying her work. She cultivated many friendships over the years, and these friendships sustained her throughout months of illness. She is survived by four siblings and her three children, Rex (Mary) Munger, Eleanor Nickelson (Tim Block), Jason Munger (Maria Richter), and granddaughter Leyla Richter-Munger. Now its been almost 11 years since Georgia died. Till missed and wishing she was here to read my Memoir and put on a play together or sit in her yard and watch her house bunny, Jack. She was a wonderful, brilliant woman.

I will miss Georgia's wonderful being very much. I loved to visit her at her home with her rabbit, Jack, and her many fowl, once she had peacocks. I got a house rabbit after meeting hers. She performed puppetry with me, recommended many children and adult books, her knowledge was vast. Also, I own one of her pastels of Jack, entitled, "Uncertainty". I loved the titles of her pictures as well as the beauty of her artwork. She will be missed, but remembered.
