Mr. Richard L. Barnes

Mr. Richard L. Barnes, 60, of Grindstone Hill Road, Greencastle, died Thursday, August 9, 2018, in the Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, Baltimore, MD, as a result of injuries sustained in a work place accident at Letterkenny Army Depot on July 19, 2018.
Born May 7, 1958 in Waynesboro, he was the son of Charles Barnes of Waynesboro and the late JoAnn (Barkdoll) Barnes. He was a lifelong resident of the Waynesboro and Greencastle areas.
Richard graduated from Waynesboro Area Senior High School with the class of 1976.
He and his wife of nearly 39 years, Cynthia L. "Cindy" (Monn) Barnes, were married on August 11, 1979. They have lived on Grindstone Hill Road since the marriage.
Richard had worked at Letterkenny Army Depot since 1975, holding various positions at the company throughout his career.
He was a member of the Grids Tractor Club in Mont Alto, PA and he enjoyed riding motorcycles, working on cars, NASCAR, taking walks, watching and hunting deer as an avid hunter, and his tractors, especially taking his grandchildren for rides.
In addition to his wife and father, he is survived by two daughters, Jessica N. Edwards and her husband, Jay of St. Thomas, PA and Jena L. Imes and her husband, Andrew of West Virginia; four grandchildren, Diesel Imes, Casey Chamberlin, Gage Imes, and Owen Edwards; one sister, Carol Sears of Lebanon, PA; his special Uncle, Bob Barnes of Mercersburg; along with numerous other aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by one infant grandson, Ethan Richard Edwards.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Friday, August 17, 2018, at Renfrew Park Pavilion, 1010 East Main Street, Waynesboro.
Services and burial will be private at the convenience of the family. There will be no public viewing.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
