Matthew Thurm Obituary

Matthew S. Thurm SUMMERVILLE Funeral service for Matthew Scott Thurm, 34, will be held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff, with burial to follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Camden. The family will receive friends Saturday 6-8 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice. Matthew died Thursday, August 2, 2012. Born in LaPlata, Md., he was a son of Joyce Dixon Thurm and the late George Thurm. He served in the United States Navy and was a Manger of IGA in Santee, S.C. He enjoyed the outdoors and was passionate about golf. Matthew was an avid Gamecock fan. Surviving are his mother, Joyce Thurm of Camden; brother, Darrell Thurm (Andrea) of Monroe, N.C.; sisters, Darlene Gardner (Eddie) of Camden, Rhonda Templar (Erik) of Camden, and Sharon Jackson (Jeff) of Jensen Beach, Fla.; a very special friend and companion, Lisa Gibson of Summerville; 12 nieces and nephews; and 8 great-nieces and nephews.
