Margaret Murdaugh Obituary

Margaret Kennedy Murdaugh
September 15, 1968 - June 7, 2021
Moselle, South Carolina - Margaret "Maggie" Kennedy Branstetter Murdaugh, 52, entered into eternal rest with her son Paul Terry Murdaugh the evening of Monday, June 7, 2021.
She graduated from the University of South Carolina in 1991, where she met her husband, Alex. She was a member of Kappa Delta Sorority, and has kept in touch with many of these friends over the years. Maggie and Alex raised their 2 sons in Hampton, South Carolina and enjoyed spending their summers at their beach house in Edisto. Maggie had a heart of pure generosity, and loved welcoming friends and family into her home on any given occasion. She adored her family, and cherished spending time on the boat with her two sons. She will be remembered as a "second mom" to her sons' many friends. She made the most out of every situation, and lived each and every day to the fullest.
Maggie is survived by her loving husband Richard Alexander Murdaugh (Alex), her oldest son Richard Alexander Murdaugh Jr. (Buster), her dear sister, Marian Branstetter Proctor (Bart), her parents Kennedy Hubbard Branstetter and Terry Lee Branstetter, her brothers-in-law, Randolph Murdaugh III (Christy), John Marvin Murdaugh (Liz), her sister-in-law, Lynn Murdaugh Goette (Allen), and her many nieces and nephews (Libby, Hannah, Kennedy, Mills, Trey, Reeves, Mary Elizabeth, Caroline, Mary Marvin, Liza Grace and Randolph).
The graveside service celebrating the lives of Maggie and Paul will be held on Friday, June 11th, at 12:00, at the Hampton Cemetery. Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home of Hampton is assisting the family with arrangements.

Mr and Mrs Branstetter. It is with a heavy heart I reach out to you. I was saddened to hear of Margaret’s passing. I recall our friendship from middle school and high school. Sleepovers, Jumping on the trampoline and running track together. As a mom my heart is broken for the two of you. I hope you can find peace and comfort in your memories and knowing there are many of us thinking of you and remembering Margaret and how she touched our lives.

Kennedy & Terry
Rick and I were so sad to hear about Margaret. David called me this morning and to tell us. You know Margaret spent many times at our home on Brintons Bridge Rd. David and her spent a lot of time together and we will always remember the time she went to Maine with us. I still have many pictures of her and their prom picture. We know she is home with the Lord.
